June 17, 2010 at 2:33 pm (Music News, Music Videos) (, , )

A video of Slash being hassled whilst playing his infamous Sweet Child o’ Mine solo has been leaked online. The video sees a guy run onto the stage and throw himself at Slash with security running after him, at last Thursday’s show in Milan, Italy; luckily the only injury was to his guitar.

Slash’s reaction can be found here over on NME’s website along with that video.

Gorillaz replace U2

May 27, 2010 at 1:52 pm (Music News) (, , , , )

Following the recent news that U2 have pulled out of their headlining slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival due to Bono injuring his back, it has been confirmed that Gorillaz are to replace them.

Speaking on NME‘s website Damon Albarn said: “It’s a terrible thing for U2. “Glastonbury is magical. Gorillaz will come to life on that stage, but we wish Bono all the best.”

Speaking on glastonburyfestivals.co.uk organiser Michael Eavis is said to be excited about the latest edition he said: “This is going to be Gorillaz’ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio-visual spectacle which will really ignite the Pyramid on the Friday night.”

Not a bad replacement but they are certainly no U2. People who weren’t keen on the idea of U2 in the first place are probably thrilled they have had to pull out but if i were going i would be extremely disappointed as U2 are exceptional live.

This week in music (22nd – 28th February)

February 28, 2010 at 9:33 pm (Music News) (, , , , , , )

This week saw an end to the rumours over the future of Abbey Road studios. One minute Andrew Lloyd Webber was interested in becoming the hero and saving the iconic building then the next EMI were saying the studios were safe.  At the moment the latest is that fuding is trying to be sourced so a revitalisation process can begin, whether this situation stays the same, who knows?

The most talked about event, The NME Awards, took place on Wednesday night with surprising wins from Paramore who won best International band, beating the likes of Kings Of Leon and Green Day, and best festival going to Glastonbury seeing off competition from Reading and Leeds and Download.

However no shock over the winner of the Best British band, this went to Muse who continue to go from strength to strength, selling out arenas and stadiums along the way.

The title of most tragic news comes from one of the main channels for getting unknown bands and singers heard. The radio station ‘6 Music’ is being rumoured to shut after cut backs from the BBC. Officials are yet to confirm or deny these allegations. An announcement is sure to come early next week.

More information can be found here:

On the festival front T in the Park tickets went on sale and then within 90 minutes had sold out! So if you wanted to see the likes of Muse, Eminem, 30 Seconds To Mars, Kasabian and The Prodigy then i’m afraid you’re too late.

Ellie Goulding’s debut album ‘Lights’ comes out the 1st of March so be sure to get your copy if you want to hear a unique voice tipped for success.
