Music news round-up…

June 12, 2010 at 1:39 am (Music News) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Have abandoned my posting duties this week so will do a bit of a round up.

Firstly the death of Stuart Cable needs to be mentioned, although the man was kicked out of Stereophonics he still was an integral part to the beginnings of the band and must be accredited for this. He was found dead on June 7 at 5.30am and was only 40 years old, again another tragic loss to the music industry, as of yet his death isn’t being treated as suspicious.

Secondly this weekend sees two of the many summer festivals kick off. Both Download and Isle Of Wight start this Friday with Download being headlined by AC/DC on the main stage and Bullet For My Valentine on the Ronnie James Dio stage, whereas the I.O.W. festival sees Jay-Z grace the main stage after the almighty Florence and the Machine.

Saturday at Download sees 30 Seconds to Mars on the Dio stage and Rage Against the Machine headline after their free gig at Finsbury Park, London last Sunday and Isle of Wight sees The Strokes and Blondie.

Papa Roach have announced the title of their next album: ‘Time For Annihilation ‘ is to be released on August 30th.

Also Lostprophets have announced a headline gig at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on August 25, tickets went on sale today at 9am. Tickets can be bought here.
