Biggest news of the week…

April 11, 2010 at 4:45 pm (Music News) (, , , )

The Reading and Leeds festival line up was announced this week with the main headliners as follows:

Guns N’ Roses, Arcade Fire, Blink 182.

Others to grace the two stages are: Lostprophets, a reformed Libertines, Queens of the Stone Age and Paramore.

The line-up for me is dire compared to every other festival this year. The acts on the bill for the likes of Glastonbury, Download, T in the Park are amazing, Reading however i feel has failed to match this greatness. They are offering a band that unless they do the ‘classic’ Guns N’ Roses songs are going to fail to make any impact, who even brought Chinese Democracy anyway?

Lostprophets i feel may be one of the few saviours of a festival that has one of the most ridiculous price tags attached to it, £180 plus booking fees for a weekend ticket is extortionate!

In other news the former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren has died at the age of 64.

The news on Kerrang!’s website read:  “He was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer last October and passed away on April 8 in Switzerland.

“McLaren, along with ex-wife Dame Vivienne Westwood, helped launch the punk movement back in the ’70s.”
